​​The CLW Springfield location has served the Clark County area since 2008. We are located on 5 acres of beautiful land in the quiet countryside just minutes away from the I-70 exit. We have a huge backyard where our participants can relax in the summer sun, play fun games, or utilize our activity area.

Inside we have a Movin' and Groovin' area where participants can play  basketball, bowl, conduct dance parties, play games, and do yoga or stretching...just to name a few available activities.  Our sensory and self-affirmation area helps our participants relax in a quiet and soft environment.  The vocational area offers paid work opportunities for our participants to focus on their future employment skills. The craft room offers a way to use their talents in a creative outlet. Also, with a large common area, we are able to provide larger group activities such as, our around the world activities, guest speakers, or working on daily living skills.

Here at CLW Springfield, it is our pleasure to offer person-centered services while creating fun and educational experiences for all participants!  Participants learn about self-advocacy and self- determination and help plan days that are meaningful to them. We assist participants daily to help them work on self-discovery while introducing new activities, skills and places in our community.  Our services include adult day, vocational habilitation, community employment, community integration and non-medical transportation.

One of the best examples of success provided at CLW Springfield is David!  During Carnival Day, CLW Springfield hosted several games, and everyone dressed up in costumes. David, on this day, dressed up as a fortune teller and had a fortune teller booth. He stopped the Administrator and asked her if she wanted her fortune read. Of course, she said "yes!" As he grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to him, he looked at her and said, "You are going to help me find a job one day."

This is the kind of determination CLW Springfield tries to instill in those we serve!  The Administrator contacted his Path to Employment Coordinator shortly afterwards and started the process of transitioning David into CLW's Community Employment department.

About a year after Carnival Day, David has a job doing office work at a local company. The day he was hired, he threw his arms up and said, "I did it! I did it!"

Springfield is overseen by Administrator, Heather Collinsworth, who is also our LPN. Heather is dedicated and always makes sure that CLW Springfield runs smoothly while putting the individuals' needs first.

Participants love Heathers' down-to-earth personality. Whether it's her greeting them first thing in the morning, impromptu dance sessions, coffee and conversations, or jumping in the crafting fun, Heather goes above and beyond for both the participants and staff.

If you can only say one thing about Heather, it's that she has never met a stranger and she lets her personality shine!
